If you’re signing in for the first time or on a new device
After entering the one-time passcode, MFA may still be necessary for subsequent logins depending on device, network, or browser. As you mentioned, once you log in and enter a one-time passcode on a new device, it won’t ask for the code again and will remember your new device. It is crucial to understand that MFA can’t be turned off since it provides extra protection against password theft. This additional security measure is designed to protect your sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access. Also, one possible reason for this sudden change in system behavior could be the limited recognition of devices or browsers.

First, your security settings could have changed such that MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) is permanently on, and always wants to verify you. New users receive an invite to join the company. They can create a new Intuit account or just sign in if they already have one. I want it BACK to being just the password. Not a “gee we think you are logging in from a new system and thus we’re going to send you a code to your email” every time I log in.
I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. I’ve got details about why you’re prompted to get and use a one-time passcode when you log in to QuickBooks Online (QBO). As an Accountant bound by IRS/FTC rules I can’t disable MFA. Clearly this is a new behavior and someone has made a change on the back end. Second off, if you want it to stop, you’ll probably have to disable MFA entirely. I wouldn’t touch QBO with a 10′ pole, but it’s possible that they jumped on board the general government bandwagon and started requiring MFA on every login.

I want to provide some additional information regarding logging into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account with multi-factor authentication (MFA) enabled. Before it only sent a code when the system sensed a new computer or new location. Can we go back to email address/password and then MFA prompt rather than email address/wait for email to be sent, THEN MFA?
